This covenant is a voluntary pledge you make to God and, ideally, to a trusted friend or small group. Sign it as a concrete commitment to carry the truths of this 40-day journey into the rest of your life.
The Covenant
Having completed the Do the Most Good 40 Day Campaign, and having understood the high calling to live beyond the fence of "doing no harm," I hereby enter into this covenant with God, knowing that my ability to fulfill it is solely dependent upon His grace and the power of the Holy Spirit.
I Commit to a New Identity (Poiēma):
I renounce the identity of the "Lone Ranger" and the "fence-keeper". I affirm that I am "God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works" (Ephesians 2:10, NIV). I will live from my identity as a masterpiece, not for it.
I Commit to a New Posture (The Towel):
I renounce the pride of the lawyer and the unmerciful servant. I commit to the humility revolution of Christ, consciously laying down my "rights" and seeking to "take up the towel" daily. I will choose to serve, not to be served, in my family, my church, and my work.
I Commit to a New Power (The Vine):
I renounce the sin of straining in my own effort. I commit to the posture of surrendering, ensuring I "abide in the Vine" (John 15:5) so that the Holy Spirit can produce the good fruit of love, joy, and peace through me.
I Commit to a New Focus (The Least of These):
I renounce the inaction of the Priest and the Levite. I commit to being a Good Samaritan and a Shalom-Pursuer. I will strive to see the face of Jesus Christ in the hurting, the overlooked, and the needy, knowing that "whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40, NIV). I will live the rest of my days seeking to Do the Most Good.
